Ali ESMAEILIPOUR

b.1962

“He is one of the few painters of our time whom I can see reaching at meaningful creativity with no mockery, no pretensions or personal preoccupations” Prof Aidin Aghdashlou, 1992 Ali Esmaeilipour, considered one of the famous contemporary painters from Iran today, was born on 21st March 1962 in Khomein, Iran. He received careful academic training in painting through Zangar, an established and well-known private Art college between 1988 to 1991. Shortly after, in 1992 Esmaeilipour managed to organise his very first of four successful solo exhibitions featuring works done in oil, acrylic and watercolour. This is apart from his participation in more than 40 group exhibitions within Iran from 1991 to 1998. Esmaeilipour’s paintings are mainly inspired by life around him with a lot of scenes from home such as an open or close window or door; the sun shining into a room; shadows cast into the bedroom with personal belongings strewn on a cupboard. According to him, “these are the things that made up everyday life. The things that spell ‘home’, ‘life’ and ‘love’, for such are the simple beauty of everyday life that surrounds us. I come from a simple background and it’s the simple things in life that means the most to a person ultimately.” Esmaeilipour is currently living in Singapore with his family, having moved here in 1998.
