Opera Gallery announces global representation of Ron Arad
29 April 2025
Opera Gallery is delighted to announce the global representation of British-Israeli multidisciplinary artist, designer, and architect Ron Arad. This marks an exciting new chapter in our longstanding relationship with Arad, which has encompassed projects and exhibitions around the world.
The announcement follows Arad’s recent solo presentation with Opera Gallery at PAD Paris, which brought together more than three decades of his most recognisable designs. The presentation reflected Arad’s distinctive practice, combining functionality and playfulness in sculptural objects that are as charming as they are useful.
Throughout his boundary-defying career, Arad’s core commitment has remained simple: to manipulate materials into ingenious new forms, executed with both technical dexterity and creative freedom. This spirit informs his work across architecture, industrial design, and art; fields between which ideas and forms often migrate and mutate.
From buildings to furniture to small-scale sculptures, Arad’s works resist orthodoxy and invite viewers to reconsider the material world around them. His art is an art of questioning: why things are the way they are, and how they might be seen anew.
Rather than draw a line between art and design, Arad prefers to work intuitively and without borders. He describes himself as a practitioner of 'No Discipline', the title of his 2008–09 retrospective at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Paris’ Centre Pompidou.
Arad’s work is held in public collections worldwide including The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Musée d'Art Moderne and Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among others. He has also designed various public artworks, some which can be seen in Tel Aviv, Seoul, Toronto and London. He has collaborated with brands such as Adidas, Samsung, Kenzo, Fiat, and many more. In 2013, Arad became an Academician of the Royal Academy of Arts.
We look forward to supporting and showcasing Arad as his work continues to develop to encompass ever-new materials, technologies and ideas.
