Pieter Obels, Sculptures in Nature
La Réserve, Geneva, Switzerland
03 June 2026
Presented until autumn 2026 at La Réserve Genève, the showcase ‘Pieter Obels: Art in the Park’ brings together three sculptures by Dutch artist Pieter Obels in a dialogue between contemporary art and the natural landscape. Organised in collaboration with Opera Gallery, the exhibition unfolds throughout the hotel’s gardens and outdoor spaces, inviting guests to encounter sculpture in a contemplative setting.
Working exclusively with Corten steel, Obels transforms an industrial material into forms that appear fluid, organic and almost weightless. Through a meticulous process of bending and shaping metal by hand, the artist creates sculptures that seem to move with their environment, responding to light, space and the changing atmosphere of the seasons. Each work balances monumentality with remarkable delicacy, revealing the quiet poetry that defines Obels’ practice.
The exhibition features three unique sculptures: Were You Thinking of Me (2023), Next to You (2026), and Come Around on the Wind (2026). Installed within the surroundings of La Réserve Genève, the works establish a subtle interaction with the hotel’s architecture and lakeside gardens, encouraging moments of reflection and discovery.
Through ‘Art in the Park’, Opera Gallery and La Réserve Genève share a common vision: to integrate contemporary art into everyday experience and create meaningful encounters between art, nature and hospitality.
