Cristina Babiloni’s ‘A través del mar’ in Gandia
Casa de Cultura Marqués de González de Quirós, Gandia, Spain
03 June 2026
The Casa de Cultura Marqués de González de Quirós in Gandia is currently presenting ‘A través del mar’, a solo exhibition by Spanish artist Cristina Babiloni, organised by Fundación Bancaja in collaboration with the City Council of Gandia. On view until 30 June 2026, the exhibition brings together a selection of works spanning painting, sculpture and installation, many of them created specifically for the occasion.
‘A través del mar’ continues Babiloni’s exploration of the relationship between humanity and the natural world. Inspired by marine landscapes and organic forms, the exhibition examines the dialogue between matter, light, colour and texture—elements that have become central to the artist’s practice. Through layered surfaces and tactile materials, Babiloni evokes the movement of water, geological transformation and the passage of time, creating immersive environments that invite contemplation and reflection.
The sea serves as both subject and metaphor throughout the exhibition. Babiloni’s works draw viewers into imagined landscapes shaped by natural processes, while encouraging a deeper awareness of our relationship with the environment. The exhibition’s title, ‘A través del mar’ (‘Across the Sea’), reflects this journey through physical and emotional geographies.
