Le Collectionneur 1994
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Opera Gallery is pleased to present “Le collectionneur”, an exhibition staging the interior of an art collector in 1994 from May 10th until June 5th in its Geneva space at 10 – 12 Place de Longemalle.
By recreating five living spaces of a collector’s home twenty-five years ago: an entrance hall, a living room, a dining room, a bedroom and a library; Opera Gallery is questioning the singular and personal relationship an art collector maintains with his art.
Paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, primitive art and various trinkets all come together in an intimate scenography, where masters such as Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Leger, Dubuffet, Stella or Haring meet more confidential artists of the 1990s such as Valdés, Baselitz, Wool or Soulages.
