Opera Gallery specialises in modern, post-war and contemporary art. We are heavily involved in the secondary market while also representing emerging international artists such as Andy Denzler, Anthony James and Gustavo Nazareno, alongside established contemporary artists like Ron Arad, Manolo Valdés and Anselm Reyle.
Position Overview
We are seeking a bilingual and meticulous Communications Manager to support the development and coordination of our communications across multiple international galleries. This role requires a strong editorial sensibility, excellent writing and organisational skills, as well as proficiency in digital and publishing tools, to ensure editorial and visual consistency across print, digital and video media.
The Communications Manager promotes and coordinates the exhibitions for their assigned galleries. They implement and coordinate the communication strategy, create and distribute communication materials, negotiate with service providers, oversee the production process through to delivery, and carry out communication initiatives aimed primarily at English-speaking audiences.
This position requires expertise in communication tools, an artistic sensibility, strong organisational skills, a flair for interpersonal interaction, enthusiasm for new communication technologies, and knowledge of printing processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and ensure consistency of communication for 4 to 6 galleries worldwide.
· Create communication materials: digital and printed catalogues, brochures, emails, web pages, invitations, leaflets, flyers, videos, etc. for the exhibitions in your remit.
· Coordinate the production and distribution of these materials.
· Plan and manage both local and international newsletter campaigns, ensuring content quality and timely delivery.
· Regularly update the website in collaboration with internal teams.
· Proofread and edit catalogues, press kits and other materials produced by international teams.
· Supervise the production of marketing and communication tools related to exhibitions.
· Coordinate with external providers (graphic designers, printers, translators, videographers, etc.) on various projects.
· Ensure graphical and editorial consistency across all communication materials.
· Enhance the gallery’s visibility and image through clear, elegant and well-written content.
Requirements
· Perfect command of both French and English, written and spoken.
· 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar role within publishing, communications, or press relations, or a degree in communications, journalism, art history, or a related field (undergraduate or postgraduate level).
· Proficiency with digital tools: CMS (website back-office), email marketing platforms, DTP software (Adobe InDesign and Photoshop).
· Excellent editorial precision and attention to detail.
· Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines simultaneously.
· Basic understanding of SEO (search engine optimisation).
· Ability to work in a dynamic, bilingual, and multicultural environment.
· Strong interpersonal skills and client service mindset.
Desirable Extras
· Knowledge of modern and contemporary art and the international art market.
· Familiarity with artwork cataloguing standards.
· Fluency in other foreign languages is a valued asset.
