Opera Gallery presents “Italian Contemporary Art” in Singapore

Monday, 25 April 2016

Opera Gallery Singapore presents “Italian Contemporary Art” in June 2016 .

Deeply rooted in the pages of Art History – from the Mosaics of the Ostrogoths to the Spatialist canvases of Fontana – Italian art has greatly influenced the European and world art scenes. Nowadays, Italy produces some of the most original and visionary artists, three of which Opera Gallery is proud to present with ‘Italian Contemporary Art’.

Exploring different styles and mediums in the contemporary Italian art scene, ‘Italian Contemporary Art’ will showcase works by Marcello Lo Giudice, Umberto Mariani and Gianfranco Meggiato. Visually stimulating and intellectually sophisticated, these artists manipulate the surface of their works, exploring the influence of light and shadow on monochromatic surfaces and experimenting with the void rather than the surface. The resulting works are evocative of a classic tradition seeped in contemporary meaning.
