Biographie

ZHU Yiyong



1957 Born in Chongqing, Sichuan, China.

1977 Entered the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, studying oil painting, in the first
group of college students after the Cultural Revolution.

1980 Oil painting “Father and Son” shown at the Second National Youth Art
Exhibition and awarded Third Prize.

1981 Oil painting Father and Son selected for exhibition in Beijing, representing the
work of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts.

1982 Graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, and started teaching at
the Academy as an associate professor, a position he still holds today.

1983 Oil painting “Village Inn” exhibited at the Sixth National Art Exhibition,
Chongqing, and awarded the Bronze Prize. This work was also selected for
exhibition in the French Spring Salon Painting Exhibition. It is now held in the
collection of the Chinese National Museum of Art, Beijing.

1987 Oil painting “Blowing the Embers” exhibited at the Chinese Oil Painting
Exhibition. In the same year, it was also shown at the Sichuan Oil Painting Exhibition and received the Outstanding Prize.
Oil painting “Morning” exhibited at the Chinese Contemporary Oil Painting
Exhibition in New York, USA. It is now in the collection of the Chinese National Museum of Art, Beijing.

1989 Oil painting “Corn Field” exhibited at the Exhibition of Chinese Outstanding Works in Oil Painting in Japan.

1991 Oil painting “Village Inn” exhibited at the Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition
in Japan.

1992 Solo exhibition at Xin Mei Gallery, Taizhong, Taiwan.

1993 Participated in the First Chinese Art Exhibition.

1994 Oil painting “Mountain Child” selected for the 45th Anniversary of the People's
Republic of China - Sichuan, Chongqing Art Exhibition.
Oil painting “Song from the Fields” exhibited at the Second Chinese Art Exhibition and received Outstanding Award.

1995 Solo exhibition at Galerie du Monde, Hong Kong, in conjunction with the book " Zhu Yi Yong" published.

1997 Oil painting “Lantern Festival” shown at the "Images of Women IV" exhibition
at Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong.

1998 Oil paintings Mid-Autumn Festival and Festival of the First Full Moon shown at the Berlin Art Exhibition, Germany.

1999 Oil paintings “Song from Beyond the Window” & “New Year and Red
Lanterns” shown at the "Images of Women V" exhibition at Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong.
Solo exhibition entitled "Visual Poetry of Light and Reflection" at Schoeni Art
Gallery, in conjunction with the book Zhu Yi Yong: Visual Poetry of Light and
Reflection published.

2000 Participated in the exhibition Images of Women VI at Schoeni Art Gallery,
Hong Kong
The painting “Sunbeam” was shown at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts –
Biennial Exhibition

2001 The painting “Sacred Bird” was exhibited at the Singapore Art Exhibition

2002 The painting “Paradise” was exhibited in the joint exhibition of China
Contemporary Artists Exhibition at Schoeni Art Gallery, Beijing, China
The paintings “Flower Season”, “Night Costume”, “Breezy Courtyard” were shown in the Images of Women exhibition in Bangkok, Thailand
The painting “Dragon Boat” was shown in the group exhibition of 30 artists at Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong

2003 Invited by Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris, France for an art exchange and for research
