TANG Zhigang
1959 Born in Kunming, Yunnan Province 1976 Joined the army after graduation from high school 1989 Graduated from the Department of Oil Painting at the People's Liberation Army Art Institute 1996 Started teaching at the Yunnan Art Academy until now
People sometimes ask me why I choose the subject of “Children in Meeting” and I would tell them that it is because of criticism directed at my previous series of paintings “Adults in Meeting”. So I simply switched to children. Also, at that time I had started to give painting lessons to children. In the army I was in charge of propaganda at the Political Department. Apart from preparing the setting for gatherings, writing slogans and taking pictures, I was also responsible for the art education of the children in the army.
