SBARBERI Hervé
Sbarberi was born in Aveyron on 16 April 1963 to a family of skilled workers and merchants. His artistic inclination is probably inherited from his Epicurean grandfather who was an amateur painter. Like Sbarberi, his grandfather possessed an incredible sensitivity for all things beautiful.
His talent was recognised when he was as young as 6 years old, winning the first prize of Concours de Dessins d'Enfants organised by Midi Libre. By the age of 10, he was handling oil on canvas.
After completing a certificate in advertising, he was offered the position of Artistic Director in Paris. While holding the job in the day, Sbarberi painted at night: Realism, Surrealism and the play of shadow and light. During this time, he was reminded of the joy of painting and finally left Paris to set up a studio in his hometown of Millau.
Upon returning, Sbarberi's mastery of still life was further refined and he came to develop a style often called "New Figurative". Encouraged by friends, he began promoting and selling his paintings 5 years ago. The overwhelming response did not come as a surprise, considering the fact that Sbarberi's impeccable technique is such a rare gift today when the beauty of realistic representation is being underplayed by most artists.
