ROSHANAK Varatesh
Roshanak Varasteh is among those contemporary Iranian artists who focus more
on extraction and preservation of aesthetic elements of tradition of art in
Iran.Such artist believe that it is not necessary to challenge the past or
dissociate from it to be contemporary.One can be modern by reinterpreting
tradition with their present day individually,with less tension and stronger
backing perhaps .The result is smooth colors,curved contours,consistent
components as well as the peaceful feel the painting offers to the viewer.
Lyrical verses of the third century Samarkhand poet,cite a lonesome
Gazelle,no longer yearning to roam without it's mate.This gazelle has been
long admired over the peaks of Iranian artistry and poetry;from primtive
metalwork's of Luristan ,the golden urns of the Achaemenids,the exquisite
silver of the Sassanids,the colorful earthenware of Nishapur ,to the garden
of Hafez' poems.
