ROGGERONE Sergio
was born in Mendoza, Argentina in October, 1968.
At the age of 20 he was awarded the Silver Medal award from the CAIC (International Asociation of Art Critiques). His first solo show took place in 1991 and after that came the Museo Municipal of Modern Art, Space of Contemporary Art in Mendoza and the Museo Provincial House of Fader also in Mendoza.
Internationally his work is part of very important collections and has been exposed in galleries and museums of Argentina.
In the United States, art galleries and the Argentine Embassy have hosted his work. Invited several times to show his work in the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz and by the Mexican Government, also in Santiago de Chile, Spain and Italy.
Awarded by the Banco Mayorista del Rio de la Plata and by the Argentine Catholic Church for one of his most typical work “las madonnas”. Sergio resercheas and gets inspiration from his many trips througout the world.
His techniques are related to this trips, since he uses old painting receipes and techniques beside from oils he also makes collages with materials like old papers, documents, glass, wools, textiles, gold, silver, wood, feather (taken from Mexican feather art), pigments, caseins, etc.
From his work stands the use of the color, textures and the irony on his themes.
Since 2005 he's been part of the BA Art in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His last big individual show was in Santiago, Chile along with some of the most recognized contemporary Latin American painters like Fernando Botero, Guillermo Kuitca y Sergio Roggerone, among others.
