MA Tse Lin
Born in Guangdong in 1960(China). Lives and works in Paris since 1985. Ma Tselin is famous for his Buddha, he is an artist taken in the paradox of the distance from his culture and of the appeal for an eternal return. With Ma, a phenomenon of personal view, marked by the liberty of invention and individualism typical for the western culture, emerges.
The choice of this key-theme, the figure of Buddha, illustrates perfectly the confluence of personal endeavor with an ancient message that includes and transcends it. On the hand there is an artwork that can impress as a sphere of influence or as a transitory passage, on the other hand there is the strength of a symbol with an essential permanence. From one side, the ephemeral part, whose signs are reflected in those variations of the image Buddha, from the other the overdetermination of the eternity.
Ma Tselin lived the murderous passage of the Cultural Revolution, as the spiritual collection and it survived thanks to its art. he came in France to bring us his experience. His vision of his new world of the image, the new technologies, the global communication, through this varied and intelligent and so plastic language which is this. Ma's Bouddha's faces will let us drive towards this new world.
