LEONE Francesca

Francesca Leone was born in Rome in an artistic milieu: her father Sergio is the famous film director, creator of some masterpieces of world's film industry; her mother was first ballerina at Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. After attending a course in scenography design at Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, she decides to devote herself to painting. She specializes in painting and graduates with Professor Lino Tardia at Rome University of Fine Arts.

In 2007, she puts her works on show taking part in the exhibition curated by Professor Claudio Strinati for UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees) at Rome Musei Capitolini. Her first solo exhibition ensues in Palermo, Loggiato di S. Bartolomeo, in April 2008.

Together with Bonalumi, Gallo, Guccione and Mitoraj, she is invited to create a work for the exhibition Galilei Divin Uomo, in Rome, Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli, in December 2008, on the initiative of World Federation of Scientists. In late 2008, she is dedicated a solo show in Palazzo Venezia, curated once more by Professor Strinati. In March 2009, she puts her works on show in prestigious Neapolitan Castel dell'Ovo.

In June 2009, she realizes a portrait of Maestro Ennio Morricone, awarded by American Academy in Rome with famous "Mc Kim 2009".

In late July 2009, she is invited by Moscow prestigious MMOMA (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) where a great part of her paintings is shown: the curator for this exhibition is Professor Maurizio Calvesi. Francesca Leone becomes Honorary Member of Russian Academy of Arts, whose honour is awarded by the Chairman of the Academy, Zurab Tsereteli, during an evocative ceremony at Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

In March 2010, Valentina Moncada Gallery in Rome dedicates Francesca Leone a solo show entitled Flussi immobili.

The same month, she takes part in the show Arte contemporanea per il tempio di Zeus, immersed in the wonderful and suggestive atmosphere of Valle dei Templi in Agrigento, together with other important artists.

As a tribute to 150 years of Italian national unity, the artist is asked to create a work celebrating Giuseppe Garibaldi. The portrait is on show from September 2010 through April 2011, at Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, in the exhibition Giuseppe Garibaldi....tutt'altra Italia io sognavo.

In June 2011 Francesca Leone is at the 54th International Art Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia, Italian Pavilion, under the prestigious direction of Professor Vittorio Sgarbi.
