CHAMIZO
Chamizo is synonymous with political activism, spending time in a Lyon penitentiary. It was in prison where Chamizo was able to express his drive for freedom and rebellion, not against his own lot, but against the fate of mankind at large – injustice, violence, war and oppression. There is intensity in his work – not just from the boldness in their geometry and strong colors, but in his subjects as well. The misperceived twisted characters are merely Chamizo’s interpretations of cultural iconography.
