BATE Stanley
Stanley Bate (1903-1972) taught at the Art Student League, becoming an emblematic figure of New York in the 1950's. Alternating figuration and abstraction, he deployed on canvas a silent universe with very soft tones, where the anonymous subjects carry the imprint of cubism and Primitive art.
