Yasmina & Marco Alaoui-Guerra
(1970 - )
Originally from Chile and Morocco, Yasmina Alaoui and Marco Guerra love to tantalize their audience by combining both of their artistic skills, ink drawing and photography, into their art.
Inspired by the legendary collection of tales from the Middle East “a thousand and one night”. These life-sized black and white photographic series depict statuesque bodies frozen in time photographed by Marco. The photographs are then meticulously detailed with complex ink drawings that form a contemporary Arabic henna pattern creating a breathtaking result.
Yasmina Alaoui is of French and Moroccan descent. She has studied Fine Arts at the Louvre in Paris, and earned a BA in Sculpture from William and Mary. Yasmina Alaoui's works consist of ink calligraphy drawings that she fuses in with the body imagery.
Marco Guerra is a New York based fashion photographer, originally from Chile. His work has been published in Conde Nast Traveller, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Black Book, the New Yorker Magazine, and other publications.
